Aucilla 11/12

Post by onefishtwofish »

Went to Aucilla in the AM. Morning tide was higher than expected. Tried our usual spots. In some of the bays, at the grass edges and in some creeks and in the river. Water looked good, but we struggled to find anything over 63 degrees. One fat trout was put in the boat on a Paul Brown original red and white. Threw the kitchen sink at them. All three of us had on different lures all day. I did get several short strikes on a Bone Zara early on, but even that died off pretty quick. Still lots of bait fish. We just never found the fish. It happens. had to leave earlier than expected, but was nice to get on the water.

Should have gone in the afternoon, but that did not work for us. Saw the largest flock of Pelicans I have ever seen though.
Ducks, turkeys, flats fishing. Who has time for golf?

Thanks for the report, Doc. I had a hard time finding much last week on those dead lows out of St. Marks and the floating grass was really a pain. Hoping for better action this week to the west with these new moon tides. If the wind will cooperate.
