Fish'n on Feb 1st

Post by Greenbone »

NOAA called for 2-3 foot seas so my neighbor and I ventured out to 40-50 feet from Carrabelle. We caught fish at all 3 stops including sea bass, grunts, many gags, few red grouper and of course that rare red snapper. They had no problem going thru 2 boxes of frozen cut bait. A surprise catch was a 27 red fish/red drum that pulled drag on the Penn. Also being inside state waters, we were able to keep a 21 " red grouper. If I read the latest regs correctly , red grouper just closed in Fed waters.
All in all it was a nice day on the Gulf.

Glad you got into some, the dog is really checking out the red! I got totally skunked fishing from 3 piers Friday, no action at all. :( Lots of slimy green moss on the bottom(?)

Sorry you didn't have much luck. That dog'Buck' says every fish coming on board is his.
