Mandalay

Postby bead » May 9th, 2018, 2:06 pm

On a whim, set out this am in our Gheenoe, first cast around 9am, back to the dock around 11 am. Three keeper fat trout, no other fish (except one hugh sail cat) no shorts, no other trash. Just the two of us and a great dinner tonight!

Creeks? Cutoff? Paddle out to the flats? Nice trip either way. Congrats on a fine suppa!

First time putting in there, just stared fishing when ever we felt like. Islands and grassy shore near.

I've been treated to many flats fishing trips out of Williams Landing, and have put in myself many times but since all I have is a Gheenoe and a Jon I always go up. I'm sure I've said this before but I'm not scared of snakes, gators, half Pirraanah Blackfish infested upper Aucilla spots (lol!) or anything like that but I'm scared stinkbaitless of getting roughed up on the flats.

A few things are shaping up so that I will have time to go fishing this fall though, and I'm trying to warm up to the idea of creek fishing in the Gheenoe. And if that goes well, maybe go on down and snag those mullet I keep hearing about.
