HELP- Best Grouper Captain

Post by Reelbama »

Guys- I need a recommendation on the best Grouper guide/captain in the area. We’re coming down to SGI July 7, for a week. Willing to drive to Carrabelle or Apalachicola. We fish multiple times a year out of Pensacola and OBA but this will be our first in this area. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Also, feel free to recommend something inshore if it’s better than grouper fishing this time of year. Just know inshore can be tough thus time of year.

The best ones are probably booked. Probably will be difficult for you at this date.

Good folks at Fisherman's Choice.

Capt. Randy Peart may be an alternative inshore. He works out of a shop on SGI in the summer but can't remember which one. Google him and he'll pop up. All the other guides I know have either retired (they're old like me) or are targeting tarpon.

Oaks Charters at: http://oakscharters.com/ out of Carrabelle Fla.

There are plenty of snapper out there, but grouper are harder to come by. We caught 7 grouper with him yesterday including one weighing over 28 lbs.
