Shell point

We are looking at buying a small house that we have found in shell point. I haven’t fished that area before. We have a 17 ft Sundance that we fish the st marks area and do not want to buy a larger boat. Plus it’s paid for. Will I find plenty of fishing for this size boat in that area? Thanks for any info.

Yes, see these responses.

The Sundance will be more than adequate. You can still run east to fish beyond the Lighthouse on good days (early before the sea breeze picks up). And there are plenty of options out of Shell Point, including Goose Bay, Oyster Bay, the flats out front, Mashes Sands/Dickson/Skipper Bay, etc.

Congrats on your purchase. You'll be able to pick the prime times to go and cut down on runs. If you don't have water access at the new property, the ramp at Shell Point is very nice. You can also buy an annual pass through the county.

You will be just fine with that set up. Good luck with the house buying.

I will note the boat traffic can get hairy there at times so stay vigilant..

Haha. But really, love that area of our waters. I need to go explore those canals a bit more but definitely a cool zone.
Just watch your tides and play it safe until you learn the water more at lower tides. Enjoy it!
