-- Offshore Fishing --

In our last report I said when the weather got pretty we were headed out to the 40 break. We left on Sunday morning and returned Tuesday night late. We were fishing in about 250 ft. The big boys were there and we couldnt find any live bait so we used northern mackrel and squid. In that deep of water you have to motor fish. It's hard to anchor and stay on your numbers. With two crew on the back deck we were able to keep four peices of bait down at all times; two mounted bandits and two pickin poles. We caught two blackfin tunas, 50 lbs. each, at the same time. You talkin' about a fight! wow! Hated to have to throw the red snapper back; huge red snapper 25 to 30 lbs. We did end up with 1500 lbs. of black grouper.

Our charter season will be starting up soon so we won't get to make to many more commercial trips but we're going right back out there on Saturday for 4 days.

For all you divers out there we did get in one good day of spearfishing last week to the southeast. Visibility was between 60 and 100 ft., depending on tide and current. We shot some nice gags in 60 ft. of water.

Stay tuned for our next report. Until then, tight lines and hook em' up!

Captain Chuck
