90 hp mercury trouble???

I have a 04, 90hp Mercury that has a new battery and a new selonoid. But when you turn the key it just clicks????? What do I need to try next???

clean cables, contacts etc.. could be bad ground.
Yesterday it was taboo today it is normal what the heck will they be doing tomorrow?

I had an 04 , 90 that I had to put a new solenoid on too....I would start with looking at my battery connections..

Bad battery or bad battery connections.

It has a new battery and the cables are clean?????? The battery is completly charged. Any more ideas?????

The starter is most likely seized up.

You can try jumping directly to the starter. If the starter spins it is a faulty connection. If not it is a faulty starter.

Tighten the battery cables really good.
Use a dc meter to read the battery charge. It should be 12.9 volts or higher.
Read voltage at the starter as you crank the motor.

Did a mechanic put the selonoid on? Even if one did, check the connections on it to make sure they are tight. Also, the wires can sometimes be left off or put on the wrong post "even profesionals mess up from time to time" :smt012

UNBOLT THE MERCURY TIE IT TO YOUR ANCHOR ROPE THEN GO BUY A YAMAHA THEN U WILL HAVE A GOOD ANCHOR AND A GOOD MOTOR!!!!!! :smt082 :smt082
