Aucilla 12-8

Post by DixieReb »

WENT TO AUCILLA, GOT THERE AT 10 AM DUE TO EARLY LOW TIDE.
WENT STRAIGHT DOWN BELOW ISLAND AND GOT 3 GOOD KEEPERS. A LOT OF SMALL TROUT IN RIVER ALSO. GOT ONE MORE GOOD FISH AT NEXT DEEP HOLE BELOW ISLAND. TIDE REISING GOOD NOW, WENT OVER TO DITCH AND TO SULFUR CREEK, SPENT BETTER PART OF AN HOUR THERE AND GOT NOTHING.
BACK TO RIVER AT 2 PM, GOT SEVERAL SMALL TROUT. MOVED JUST ABOVE ISLAND AND WIFE GOT BIGGEST TROUT OF DAY-18 1/2 ''
GOT INTO SOME PUPPY REDS IN SAME HOLE, CAUGHT 5 AND KEPT NONE. GOOD FIGHTERS, THOUGH. GLAD WE FOUND THEM FOR THE FIGHT IF NOTHING ELSE.
ENDED UP WITH 5 TROUT. SLOW DAY, OTHER PEOPLE DID ABOUT THE SAME. ONE FELLOW DIDN'T HAVE ANY.
IF YOU GO, WE GOT CHECKED BY THE MAN ON THE WAY OUT ON DIRT ROAD. BE CAREFUL.

Sir Reel,
We fished mostly with green glitter-firetail grubs, white grugs, and hot-pink mirrolures. They seemed to like the green grubs best. We also tipped with shrimp. That helped a lot.
It was fun, first trip out since October. We read your post about striper fishing. Sounded like lots of fun. My dad and I used to catch a lot of them out of Lake Moultrie near Charleston.
