Hello All:

Skeeter and Dale Hollow took out some visiting family members for what will prove to be the fishing adventure of a lifetime...

Six of us boarded Captain Randy's "Debo Too" out of Carrabelle on Friday morning at about 7:30 for a Grouper charter... Seas were initially 2-4 feet and very choppy; however, the boat's cabin kept us all warm and dry.

We went out about 17 miles or so looking for those Grouper. At about 11:00 when the sun came out, we had boxed 4 keeper Gags in about 40 feet of water and already tried about 6 different spots. Moved out to 50-60; then suddenly, the fish got hungry for the cut bait we were using. Boxed 9 more keeper Gags on one hole! Incidently, this was when one of our party started blessing the water with 'human chum'. After the 'human chum', fish were biting like mad! We didn't troll. All fish was caught off the bottom.

We actually tried about 20 spots within a 2 mile stretch. Water flattened out about 1 pm for the rest of the day. Cut up Grunts seemed to be the key for cut bait.

I'm very new to the area, sorry I don't have any more location specifics other than the Captain's word that we were 17 miles out...

Headed in at 3:30

Total for the day:

Boxed:
24 Keeper Gags (2-27" and 1-30")
2 Red Grouper
About a dozen Black Bass

Throw Backs:
About 50 or so short Gags (18-21 inches)
1 Red Snapper (20 inches)

Bottom line, what a great way to spend a day with family from out of town. Hat's off to Captain Randy and his gracious assistant Debo for them putting us on the fish!

The 'Human Chum' appeared to be a combination of turkey, dressing, and looked like a green bean casserole from the Christmas night dinner.

Goes to show you the pain that many people will put themselves through to catch fish. :o
