First Keeper Red!!

Post by AshlieKC »

Launched Canoe from the Ochlockonee Bridge just before sunrise. Paddled the shore line and threw some top water plugs to no avail. Got anchored just off one of the oyster bars there and switched to gulp jigs. With a pink belly ghost shrimp, I through right off the oyster bar and BAM! It was him! It was such a rush! I wasn't sure at first if it was a red or trout, but it was giving a good fight! As he got closer to the canoe, I could see the spots on his tail!! A big Keeper Red! As I got him closer and closer, I just prayed I had set the hook good enough!! We got him in the canoe and he measured 22"!! My first red fish on a gulp jig! He was the only fish of the day, but my first keeper red! :-D :smt004
