shimano spinning reels drag is the smoothest of all reel when they are new. over time they loose the smooth action. time for a cleaning and regreased the drag washer or replace. make sure you grease the tension knob to .because they freeze up to main shaft .this call awet drag. shimano baitcaster has the same wet drag.all reels do not have wet drag but it as important to clean or replace. the drag is most important feature of all reels.the game is won or lost in a good drag.so have a good drag day. mike flowers reel repair 9262120
