No one get a Guardsman furniture "warrantee"

Post by Salty Gator »

We bought a leather couch from Ashley's Furniture a few years back. We purchased a guardsman "warrantee" for around $100-$150. Well, the leather tore. We don't let the dogs on he couch and we have no kids, so no excessive wear. Just laying and sitting. We told them that it just tore on its own. Well that isn't covered, go figure. I was told if we lied and said it was from a dog or a button on someones pants, that would have been covered. So damage I inflict is covered, but cracking leather isn't covered. They say a happy customer tells 10 people, and an unhappy customer tells 30. Well, im telling anyone who reads this, hope it is way more than 30. These companies love to take your money, but fight tooth and nail to find a way not to pay. Seems criminal. Thanks

Ashley's does not sell quality furiture -- it sells "Quality Look Alikes" and there is a difference. But i would go carefully over that "warantee", that sounds like BS to me, and if you don't stand up to these people, they will get away with it... Picket their showroom on a weekend...

'member that old couch your parents had.. must have been 20 yrs old and was taking care of nearly the 3rd generation. Well not with Ashley!
I thought I was splurging 3 yrs ago to get some furniture only to find out that it's already wore out crap. Yes, the one across from Sonny's on CCNE.
Have to dig myself out off of the couch - and it's BROWN.. no need to say what the quality resembles... but it's BROWN too.

and while we're on the subject - does anybody know them Turner Furniture boys on the TV commercial? Can you tell them if they smile just a tad on the TV they may get more business. at least the stocky one stopped mouthing his brother's lines while he said them - so they can be trained.

Oh, one more thing, someone please tell Lester that the girl he's got now on the SafeTouch commercials is wore out now like old gum and needs replaced..

that is all.

I once had an warentee problem with a major Chevy dealer on a service van i had bought that they couldn't fix. Turned out there was a screw thru the wiring harness that was causing it to shut down!! I first went to the police station and told them what i intended on doing. They got a kick out of it and only asked me to stay "off" their property and i was good to go!! I started on Friday night and had a generator with flood lights and big "lemon" signs. They immeadiately called the police!! And the police arrived, and i really thought i was going to go to jail?? When i told them i had checked with their sargent, and showed them his business card -- i was good to go. As a matter of fact, they eventually stationed an undercover cop down the street to protect me. I had many of this dealer's past customers stopping to talk to me. And what REALLY got the Chevy people upset was the Ford dealer down the street was bringing me all kinds of food and drinks, even gave me a nice "Ford" ice cooler to set next my van. A few of their salesmen pulled up and threatened me, and the undercover cop chased them down and gave them a warning after talking down their information. By Sunday afternoon, they were on there knees........... They arranged a Monday afternoon meeting with the Director of GM Southeast U.S.Operations handed me a lifetime warrentee on the van with all service to be preformed by a dealer of my choice. Get a couple of big signs from Office Depot and an American flag, stay on the sidewalk and everyone will talk to you, as they are just burning up inside the store!!

Some service warranties are regulated depending on the time period covered and the purchase amount. Check out the below website, and/or call the consumer help line. The states takes warranty/insurance complaints seriously.

Extended warranties on ANYTHING are junk. Just wasting your money. They have fine print everywhere to NOT PAY you!. Goes for cars, cell phones, furniture, anything. Why do folks keep falling for these scams.
