Shot guns at Apalachicola Range??

Post by jslorenz3 »

Why can't you shoot shot guns out there? Doesn't make any sense! :smt070

From the brochure I see two reasons in this section...

6. OFFICIAL PAPER TARGETS
ATTACHED TO THE BACKING OF THE
PROVIDED TARGET FRAMES ONLY. No
cans, bottles or other litter allowed. Put
old targets in the trash. Place target on
the frame for standing or bench
shooting.

One, shotguns will tear up the target frames....
Two, Shotgun wads are a litter problem.

And possible a third reason is they do not want firing up into the air (skeet), which by the way, would also litter.

Dubble, all good reasons, but it doesn't seem like a shooting range if you cant use a shotgun. Do you know of anywhere I can legally shoot a shotgun on public land?

I am from Thomasville, but I am sure there some skeet ranges in the Tally area.

I believe Talon has a new range that includes shotguns.

Call to confirm this but I think you can shoot them anywhere in the national forest... as long as it is safe shooting.
We did it all the time back in High School and college.
The range didn't allow shotguns back then either.

I have been told that Coon Bottom Hunt Club on SR12 allows shotguns and has a skeet range.

My neighbor, a retired FHP Officer and gun instructor, tells me that you can use shotguns at the range south of the airport (if that's the one you are talking about) so long as you don't tear up the target holders.

Thanks for all the info fellows. I just didn't want to go out in to the forest and just start shooting because I can't really pull the ignorance card anymore.
