My SIT (Soldier in Training)
Received a letter from m son at Fort Benning. He says he loves what he is doing in basic training. He can't believe that he's being paid to eat, exercise and train, and he loves it. I must have said the right things in my letters because he says I was right on target on almost everything except the chocolate milk.
Here is a picture of him (he's the tall one)
Yes, I am proud Dad of a SIT at Benning.

Yeah, he looks strong and confident. I'd go beside him.
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

mjsigns, glad to hear were not all nuts................... being older that is. Tell that young man, I'm proud that he is accomplishing something other than AC and video games. Keep the reports coming. Many of us appreciate him and his peers.

Re: My SIT (Soldier in Training)
Ok Thanks for the support- The Chocolate milk..... back in 1978 when I went through basic training, in the mess hall they that this extraordinary whole chocolate milk. It was thick and creamy and contained a gazillion calories, and it was nothing short of a delicacy. Best item on the line as far as I was concerned. It stuck with me for thirty some years, it was good. My son wrote to me saying that the "chocolate milk" is now watered-down and tastes like some kind of soy diet chocolate drink, and not very good as I described.
The days of "AC and video games" are over for him now. Talked with him on Saturday, and he says he "loves it". he said, "I can't believe I'm being paid to exercise, train and eat and sleep", it was something to that affect. I was wondering if that is what they were instructed to tell the parents Sure make me feel better.
There are some new pictures on the facebook page of the "Tear Gas House". Even without a name tag, I could pick my son out. It did not look fun to me.
Here he is, first in line...
Here is one that is hilarious -
