Costal watercolor paintings

Post by Salty Gator »

I want to help spread the word. I wil post a more complete thread later, but want to get something out today. My FIL is Sandy Proctor, he is a local artist. You have probably seen his bronze sculptures around town, probably the most well known is the Bobby Bowden sculpture at Doak. He used to paint in oils and donated a bunch to DU and a few others. He recently started watercolors again and is painting mostly costal scenes. Oyster boats in appalach and wakulla station are two of my favorites. There will be a show this weekend at goodwood. I will post more details. Here is one he did Labor Day weekend. Titled three mavericks. He is also able to paint your boat or favorite spot. Thanks for looking

Thanks Gator! I like it! Hope he does well.

One of my sons does stuff like that but couldn't make a living doing it. Some folks have such talents.

It is Travis. He and his boat were the models for that one. Sandy nailed him, didn't he?

Charley. I'm not 100% sure. He has a lot of different sizes. I think a few hundred on up. Part of the reason he is doing this is to get some more affordable art out there. A lot if his work is for people that don't have to work for a living. He wanted to try something that might appeal to more regular folks, and see how it goes. I understand spending money on art isn't very high on most of our priority lists. But this is art that you will display proudly and pass down in your will. Sandy wont sell you anything unless you LOVE it. If you only like it, the will often talk you of of buying it. I will be helping on Sunday, so if anyone from here comes out, please say hello.

I like both of them but the two boats would be my favorite.

In "Three Mavericks", what is the guy on point doing? I don't see a rod in his hands, or his hands for that matter. Is it not finished?

I love it! :D

That was my question I was afraid to ask. Could he be casting a net?

Now that I've got up courage, who is the third maverick? The boat?

Good painting and gives you something to wonder about. :-D

He is casting a fly rod. It is a bit hard to see in the photo. It is watercolor which is generally a little more impressionistic than an oil painting. Y'all come out Sunday and take a look.
