8/29 Spring Warrior report

Post by wishin2bfishin »

Put in at 7:30 AM at SW ramp and was fishing by 8. Started around the closer bars with no luck besides a couple of top water boils and no hookups. Moved out to 4 ft water and picked up a short red on live shrimp under a cork. Bite exploded at 9:30 and it was on for an hour.
In that time frame we put 10 trout from 17-19 and a 22" red and a number of 14" trout. We would have caught our other 5 trout except for an 8 or 9 ft shark that shut the bite down! He kept cruising around the boat. Messed up our rythmn and didn't catch another fish.
We tried deeper water with no results and moved back to the bars to catch the rising tide with no results.
8 out our trout were caught with live shrimp as was the red.
Water temp was 84 to 87.5.
Wind was SE at about 5-10
Low tide was 11:30 I think.
All in all it was a good day for August.

Was out of spring warrior today. Think I saw your friend shark. Came by my boat was 10-12 ft long according the length of my boat. At least 2 ft across his head. Not a good place to scallop. Was in 5-6 ft of water.
