6/27/19 Snapper/Grouper

Post by Currentsituation »

Got out of the office yesterday and went out of Mashes sands boat ramp. Went out to 90FT and found some really nice snapper. Largest was initially a 20#er but the tax man took about half of him on the way up. Managed to pick through the snapper for a nice box of 25" plus fish. Went in a little shallower and found some nice gags with the largest being 30". Also managed a really nice 24" red grouper in the same area. The seas were pretty rough at 3-4 going out early but it started laying down around lunch and we cruised in on flat seas. All in all a great day on the water. Hopefully, the seas will cooperate this weekend and we can go get some more. The bite seemed to shut down mid day as the tide stopped so I recommend to your work early.

Cant figure out how to post pictures or I would.

Sounds like a great day! How far did you have to run to get to 90 feet from Mashes Sands?

That was a BIG snapper!

And yes, how far out to get to 90' from Mashes? Or even 70?

That looks like a pretty big boat you're floating in there too..

25 - 35 nautical miles +/- a few pending what direction you're going

90 feet is about 45 miles out, 70 feet should be 30-35 miles depending on your heading.
