I didn't know Jerry personally but have enjoyed his columns throughout the years in the Democrat. Just wanted to pass along the info to the forum.

Sad to hear this news. I've known Jerry as a colleague for years and we worked together on several articles. He had a great sense of humor and style. He'll be missed!

So very sorry to hear this.
I took Jerry on an "adventure fishing" outing on the St Marks Refuge about seven years ago, as fodder for one of his great columns. So glad I had a chance to meet him. He had loads of angling knowledge and a gentle wit. To boot, he was a real sport, enduring a harrowing slog through the marsh with nary a complaint.
Definitely, one of the good guys has passed. I'll miss him.

RIP, Jerry. Great man who did a lot of great things and enjoyed life and people. Loved fishing and helped others do it too.

There will be a Memorial Gathering for Jerry on Friday Oct. 18 at 4 pm at Culley's Meadowood funeral home on 1737 Riggins Road. The Memorial Service will follow at 5 pm.
