Bladed jig

Post by Juan »

Anyone tried these jigs with the spinner blade? I've read a couple of good reports...just wondering if they work as good as they look.

I’ve had luck with ones that had a blade under the head. But not tried those.

They look good, but it seems like the blades could prevent hook ups. If the blade is pointing straight up and down when it gets bit.

I have not thrown any of these. Not something I would buy but doesn’t mean it can’t get you hooked up.

If I throw a blade style hook, I throw a lazy man, which gives me a weedless setup.

But to each their own, all about confidence.

That's what I was thinking but the description and the reports I read convinced me to order a few. There's a sucker born every minute. :-D

The Megabass Okashira Screwhead adds the exclusive Asymmetrical Prop to the Okashira’s exquisite design, adding flash and subtle vibration. With one blade larger than the other and finely-tuned bend angles, the offset design generates a unique ‘pulsing’ presence to draw in fish from distance. Utilize the Screwhead to supercharge your umbrella rig or jig head presentation today.
The hand-carved design showcases meticulous, lifelike detail that not only draws in wary fish—it perfects action. Featuring catamaran-inspired Water Through Lanes to channel water under the chin and around the softbait body, Okashira Screwhead displays uncanny horizontal stability. This contributes to improved range-keeping and allows paddletail and grub trailers to truly shine in even the toughest conditions.
Features
Hydrodynamic form for stability and a touch of roll
Asymmetrical Prop (PAT.P) generates flash and vibration
BKK Super Slide hooks for superior penetration
Hand-tied worm keeper secures bait like a pro

Juan, another lure? I just had a tour of your lure room/man cave and you DO NOT have room for another lure. All the walls are festooned with lures as it is, are you going to open an annex in the barn? :)

That's funny coming from a guy who can't get any more lures in the compartments on his boat and carries an additional two duffle bags full of lures. :-D
You're one of a select few who saw that without a full background check and being sworn to secrecy. :-D

Caught. Yeah, I could probably cull a few but one hates to be caught short on a slow day and that special lure is back at the house.

Are they using them under a popping cork or swimming it with a mullet body? I do have good luck with chatterbaits on the flats with a mullet behind the jighead.

The few reports I read, they were using them with swim baits and the only complaint was about how well the barb held the bait. I doubt the spinner blade would be very effective under a popping cork but I like the sound of it slowing down the retrieve, adding vibration and flash.

Try the zman diezel chatterbait, it has dual barbs and it holds their stretchy plastic well, I think you will be pleased, it gives a good bit more vibration and flash than those small blades and usually the shorts leave it alone.

I bet there’s no ultralight rig, but if there were they could take the place on inline spinners, 75% of which don’t spin lol!

EDIT: upon searching I saw that there’s a 1/16 Oz rig!!!!!! The dang hook looks to big for inline spinner style mullet fishing and bream fishing still though. Still a cool looking bait. I ordered something similar for bass fishing, those Rockerhead hooks.

An review on the jig heads: They arrived yesterday but because of 6" of rain yesterday, I thought it would be a waste of time to head toward the gulf and try them on trout and reds so I made a few chunks in the pond. The bass love em. The spinners give a 3" swimbait a little flash and a lot more action than a standard jig. Surprisingly the bait styed on the hook well and only pulled off a little on short strikes. The spinner worked like a charm until it ran trough some grass and algae so I had to keep the retrieve speed above the grass but the spinners also slow down the retrieve a little. Long story short... I like em and think they will work well. Can't wait to throw them at the trout next week. :-D

Glad to see the jig works.

And the trout should like them especially if you tie on a Matrix. :)

Nice. It actually looks better from your photos than the other one.
