Re: St. Marks Catfish Story 9.21.2013
The key to treating catfish stings is heat, heat, and more heat. The venom of saltwater cats is very similar to that of sting rays, and the protein will get denatured by the heat, and the pain will subside. After the pain management, just have to keep it clean to avoid infection. I had a guy on my b...

Re: Boiled Peanuts
I do mine in the slow cooker during football season. The trick for me it to add a few beers to the peanuts and then top it off with water, and I let it cook about 4 hours on high and then switch it to low for a few more hours. I especially like this with a darker beer like a porter. Make the peanuts...

St. Joe Scallops
I've been at St. Joe for the past few days enjoying some beach and scalloping before school starts back. Went scalloping yesterday and managed a 4 person limit behind Black's Island. Had to work for them a bit, but they were there. When cleaning them, we came across an interesting question: I like t...

Re: Wade fishing/beach fishing Cape San Blas
I think it may still be a little cold for the pompano but if you drive up to the head of the bay you should be able to wade. We caught them a couple days ago in 3 feet of water, so that should be easily wadable.

Re: St. Joe Bay
New Penny on the grass flats behind black island is where we caught them. 3 ft was the depth we had the best luck with.

St. Joe Bay
While down at the beach for spring break, I decided to take my boat and do a little fishing in the bay. Tuesday had little wind, smooth seas, sunny sky, and I caught a stomach bug. Awesome start to the week. :smt010 Wednesday was rainy with thunderstorms predicted later in the day, but we decided to...

Re: Motor Rev Question
I was thinking about cavitation but I had not thought of the exhaust coming through. Looks like a new carrier assembly is in order. I know I could use a skeg guard too. I've been through a few skegs on this motor.

Re: Motor Rev Question
The prop shaft turns true. If it was bent I would also think the motor would vibrate when it is running in the water. The motor runs as smooth as it ever has, just acts like the prop is now underpitched.

Motor Rev Question
When I ran my boat a couple weeks ago, my motor began to run a lot more rpms than it usually does at the same throttle position, almost as if my prop was underpitched. I just figured I had hit one too many rocks and needed a new prop (see my previous thread). I got a new prop and took it out yesterd...

Re: Econfina Fishing
I understand the pucker factor. When the water is clear I have to take my polarized glasses off when I am running out of the river. Even though I look at the tides and know I'll be safe, it is still too scary to me to see all the rocks under me as I go out. The creeks are something else. I know wher...

Re: Econfina 3/16
We got on the water at 11:30 and got off at 5:30 with a two man limit. For every keeper we had to catch at least 3 or 4 14 inch trout. Water temp was 63 when we got on the water and 65 when we left.

Re: NRA: Guns in Schools Would Protect Students
I seriously doubt that the reason the Japanese never invaded the continental US was because of civilian gun owners. Perhaps it was 5000 miles of ocean and insufficient infrastructure needed to move a significant amount troops needed for a land invasion. That is beside the point of my previous statem...

Re: NRA: Guns in Schools Would Protect Students
I understand that the 2nd amendment was designed to allow for the creation of a militia, but I see a problem with your argument. When was the last time that an organized invading force only invaded with ground troops? If America is invaded and a militia is needed, chances are that the things that wi...
