Re: taxidermist?

I know of several people that swear by Harden's in Thomasville. His work is good, and it takes about a year to get your head back.

Also, post a pic so we can see the deer.

Re: Econfina River questions and thoughts

I can paddle about 3-4 mph in open water, so with a decent flow it would be paddled in 4-5 hrs if you never stopped. However, deadfall changes everything. If I were to paddle it, I would allot 12 hrs of paddle time.

Re: Steinhatchee Tomorrow?

They've been stacked up in the rivers. The most recent cold snap that came through pushed them up by the fort at St. Marks and you could catch as many as you wanted to, as long as you could get a spot on the river. When it started warming up the bite got more sporadic, but I would imagine that there...

Re: Mandatory Boating Safety Course Proposed

I had to take a course similar to this for Georgia when I was a teenager. Concerns about manatees aside, all one has to do is sit at the St. Marks boat ramp on almost any Saturday to see the strong need for a boater safety course.

Re: Econfina 12/11

I did build it! As for the bait...there is a particular gold colored mirrodine that is only made for Big Rock Sports and the only place I can find them is at Larry's in Moultrie. They are super hard to find and not even listed on Mirrolures website. I found them (for the first time in at least 6 mon...

Re: St. Marks River

They should still be there next weekend, as long as the cold weather forecast for this week holds. I have honed my winter fishing over the past few years as it seems to be when I can fish the most, and I consistently catch fish. During this time of the year, I closely watch the water temperature in ...

Econfina 12/11

With the negative tide this morning, I decided to take my canoe down to Econfina to see what the river looked like with no water. I saw all the rocks that I knew about and found a whole bunch of new ones. I paddled down toward the mouth and started fishing. It was slow at first, but one the water st...

Re: Wear your PFD!!!

When I built my canoe I decided to get a good vest I could paddle all day in. I went with this one: [flash=]https://www.nrs.com/product/40009.04/nrs-chinook-fishing-pfd[/flash] didn't want a self inflatable because there are times that your gonna get wet on a canoe (we enjoy canoeing the rapids on t...

Re: St Marks weekend -- tough fishing

It was a tough weekend for us as well. We started out on the west flats where the water looked like my coffee and seemed to have the same number of fish as my coffee too (that is...0). We then moved out in front of the lighthouse where I caught some fish a few weeks ago. Picked up a 21" red and...

Keaton Beach 9/26

Hit the water early on Saturday to try to catch the bite on the incoming tide. Water was a bit warmer than last week. Started with topwater in 3 ft. and were met with a good bite of 17"-18" trout. Caught 6 pretty quickly and then the bite turned off. Managed a couple more in 5' before we d...

Re: Keaton Beach 9/19

Yall must have been in a bit shallower than us because there was no way we could throw anything topwater with the grass as thick as it was.

Keaton Beach 9/19

We decided to try out Keaton yesterday even though the forecast said it was going to be super windy. The wind was there, but the chop wasn't so it turned out to be a good fishable day. As hot as it has been, expected the fish to be out deep, but we were greeted to clear, 77 degree water as we left t...

I've seen the occasional eel while scalloping before. You usually only get a quick glimpse before they are gone.

The Navionics maps are pretty good, and I will get on Google Earth and look at the satellite pictures. You can see more than you think when you zoom in.

St. Marks 7/28

Took the canoe down to St. Marks for a paddle fishing trip. First time I've taken the canoe into the salt to fish. Launched from the Lighthouse at 6:45 and headed to the oyster bars and grass lines in the East River looking for redfish. Got some bites, caught some ladyfish, and saw one of the bigges...
