I'd try Honeymoon Island.

I never had much luck at Fred Howard. Honeymoon is just south of Tarpon Springs and is a local favorite for Snook (use live greenbacks if you can get them).

Good luck!

We ended up fishing Stoney Bayou. Water was crystal clear and we saw several reds up in the creeks but couldn't get them to take anything - used freeline shrimp, CJs, Gulps, and topwaters. Wind was pretty brisk, but otherwise a beautiful day - we'll get em next time. Water temp ranged from 60-64.

Thanks. That was my initial instinct, I just wasn't sure how long they stayed up in the river after a good cold snap. We'll try the flats and greek mouths east of the lighthouse and report back.

This is one of those days where you just have to call in sick...

Pre-weekend scouting

With the weather changing quickly I'm a bit unsure where to go today. I am considering fishing the river near the fort, or putting in at the lighthouse and fishing the east river or the creek mouths and flats. I'm guessing it's still a bit early for the rock island explosion. Any ideas?

Yakking in the fog

I ventured out into the fog on Sunday and was blown away be the experience. It was almost surreal - I could hear sounds and voices but could not see anything but vague outlines of trees and other structures (see pics). I did not have any luck fishing, but I mainly fished in close proximity to the li...

I was out as well, not so lucky on the fishing however. Here are a few pics from St Marks. The landmarks sure faded quickly. :o http://www.forumpictureprocessor.com/pictureprocessor/images/DSC04643_1.jpg http://www.forumpictureprocessor.com/pictureprocessor/images/DSC04644.jpg http://www.forumpictur...

Can you provide more details (rooms, baths, sq ft) - I am interested. Do I see a sunroom in the backyard?

I went out with another son again today - he' s 9, and he pulled in a 21" trout. We caught a total of 12 small (15 inches or so) reds and the one trout in about 90 minutes. I saw a couple of others pull in some nice specs and at least a couple of keeper reds. The best place to put in is where H...

Lot's of action at Spring Creek

My son and I decidede to try Spring Creek for the first time and we were glad we did. We landed over thirty Red pups (none were keeper size but fun just the same) and at least 20 specs, mostly keepers, although we were releasing everything. We fished in the incoming tide just up from the mouth. Whit...

Yak Fishing on the Pinhook?

From what I can tell from the charts, it looks like the closest launch point for getting to Pinhook Creek is about a 2-3 mile paddle. Does anyone know of a closer point to put in?
