Vis improving , plenty of fish
Hit DI one last time before the season flips, vis average, but lots of nice gags and medium sized hogs. Guess the triggers know they are closed since they follwed me around like knats nipping at my fish. Still having about one taxman encounter per trip. Lots more blue angels in close this year than ...

Good season so far. Vis has been avg to just shootable on most trip, but yest it was a little above avg. occasionally a cold thermo here and there, plus river water. Big Inshore hogs 20"plus have been pretty steady. Gags to 30" plus are hit or miss. One spot barren, next one loaded. Not ma...

Re: Local Spearfishing Tournament May 17th
Yeah, we are in. There are 8 or so in our little group. Hope they get a good turnout.
They are having a cookout afterwards , t shirts, lots of cool prizes etc. should be a good time.
There are some unusual rules which will need some clarifications beforehand.

Wakulla Dive Center is sponsoring a spearfishing tourney May 17th. Playing field will be leveled since gags have to come inside 9 miles. Stop by their shop and sign up. Should be fun and supports the shop. The info is on Facebook I think.

Trolled for gags yest and last Thursday out past 24. Trip last week was solo, but great conditions , front approaching, good current, calm and clear water. Trolled mostly in 35 ft. Ran out early out of mashes to beautiful calm seas.... Flew out to 30 ft and started lookin around. Ran over some new bottom and before I knew it, had a 24" gag on a stretch. Barely had him I. The box and hooked a double as I was turning back. 30 and a 24, the latter went back. I pulled in line...

Used a small kit from ams on some small gashes on bottom of boat. Easy to use and I was able to hand sand with some effort. Looks good and smooth. Hard to match color, but mine were on bottom.

St marks 8-1-13
Sorry for late report. Went out of mashes, but ran to 30-35 ft of st marks. Water was dark but surprisingly fairly clear. Freediving, I could make out some detail from 20 ft off bottom.... First hit some low relief hard bottom in 30ft.... Barren. Then better relief in 35 a few more miles out. Few fi...

Re: Econfina Grouper
17ft would be a freediving dream..... Reminds me of what we did at crystal river. Everything of Lanark is 30 plus which is tiring if current is moving. Thank goodness for tanks when I burn out.....
Great report!

Got out for scouting Thursday and spearing on sat off dog..... Vis good thurday, great sat. Sat the seas were rough all day, but we didnt care since the vis was good, fish were there and current was nil. Late report for Monday, been a little caught up with the weather. We had high hopes with good recent vis reports, and thought we could squeeze in a trip before the weather. Launches at Lv around 7 and made quick work of a lite swell. Vis wasn't as good as expected , but was shootable and the lack of...
