Gags are everywhere, and fat…… oh but my eyes must be playing tricks on me…. Those gags are supposed to be endangered….
Maybe DOGE will send fisheries management back to the states?????

Or maybe just give us the “normal” gag season that THEY told us was the right regulation to rebuild the stock. They were actually correct, it worked.

One dive trip during gag and one after……
Gag trip was quick …. 40 ft of DI… big gags everywhere, stuffed with small herring… we stopped at 7 for the 5 of us… barely could shut cooler… more than enough fish for us. Great to see all the healthy gags…. Plenty from every age class. But don’t try to tell ...

We grew up diving the murk at Crystal River where 6 ft vis was good…. So we got used to silhouettes….
The RG are taller and shorter…. Behave differently….

Gags usually need Xanax….. always on edge.
RG all are way chill.

Slight clarification….. in the 4th pic down from the top, those are big gags, the one that are endangered.
3rd pic down has a nice RG in the front to the left, others are gags.

The trees are usually smaller fish , at least in our areas…. May be different to the west

If you bleed bonito well… cut gills and troll them in the water, they are as good fresh as any local YF from the market….
Only raw or sear…. If you like tuna that way , you’ll love them.
We target them now between dive spots
