Re: St. George Island

The park has maps of the bay and tide charts for free if you ask for them at the entrance station.

Yes it is. I have never walked up there to see if they have the wind gauge though. That data could be collected from the weather station on the causeway between the two bridges.

Sorry jep but no camping allowed at the east end. I don't know how we would find out though unless someone reported you. We do have 60 campsites in the park though. Just before you get to the back gate the road on the left goes to the campgrounds. The rates as of now are $14.00 a nite, $2.00 for ...

From the ranger station to the gate is four miles. From there to the end of the of the island (East Pass)is another 4.5 to 5 miles.
The road is sandy so going by bike would be kinda tough, the good thing about biking to the end is that you don't have to buy the additional pass to have access. You ...

No plans on the drawing board as of now. Never know what the future holds though. It's really not that bad though as long as your 4x4 doesn't fail you. With the limited access to the east end it doesn't get over fished and also not that crowded. Like I said before the pass also grants 24 hour access.

The place that I am refering to (East Pass) is on the opposite end of the Island, the plantation is on the west end of the island.
As far as I know the only way to get into the plantation is to have or rent a house inside there. Sikes cut is a very popular place to fish by boat. Hope this helps to ...

Jep, you can buy a annual pass or vacation pass for 7 days that will cover up to 8 people in a 4x4 vehicle. Cost for the annual pass is 84.80 and for the vacation pass it is 13.25, otherwise it is 6.36 per person per day.
Sawbones the road is in ok condition after the rain that we just had, before ...

I don't know whats biting at the cut in the plantation. I'm a park ranger at the state park on the island and everyone is catching whiting on the gulf side, a few reds and specks from around the oyster bars on the bay side. Fishing at the east end should be picking up soon. The traffic going down ...

I to fish cash's. I have caught lots of bream and shellcracker there. The ramp off of hwy. 65 is the best one to use. When it gets cold one of the best ways to catch bream and shellcracker is to to use a ultra light with a couple of split shot for weight and a small hook. I use earthworms, and fish ...
