St. Joe Bay - Winter tacticts

I am spending the week at CSB next week and plan on getting out in the bay on my kayak. I've never fished this time of year and was looking for some winter fishing tis - bait, rigs, etc.

Hit the guts, slow and low?

Assuming no topwater action?

Thanks,

Jim

Re: St. Joe Bay Report

For that guy, I'm guessing about 8"

Seriously they were all about 1.5-3 lbs

Re: St Joe Bay

Trout will be full of roe and hungry. Work a Chug Bug and look out for hand grenades!

Rogue Reds will be on the  prowl too!

St. George Island

Heading to St. Geroge Island for teh first time in a couple weeks. I'll be bringing my kayak and geared up for some infore lunk ripping.
Anyone have any honey holes they could recommend? Or general areas that one can launch a yak and find reds and trout?

Thanks!

My favorites are the Spook and Chug Bug. Had some pretty good luck luck last week with a white Spook w/red head and a king-size silver and blue Chug Bug.

Fishing wise....there is nothing like getting exploded on top water.....nothing.

Cobia

All I want for a prize is a day out on one of your boats next time I'm down there...I'll bring the beer. The day I caught the Cobia (4/3/2007) they were in a small school cruising the edges of the guts. I caught him on a 1/4oz jig head with a Gulp (3" white pogy). The very next day I spoo...

Wednesday - Stump Hole Got out at 6:00am hoping to catch some moonlight top water action. Started in the flats chucking a King size Chug Bug and Spook. We each missed a couple hook ups and then I finally got a nice red (25+). My buddy didn't catch anything so he moved over to the honey hole and star...

We've been having a blast! Sucks that I only get to fish down here once a year. We're pretty jealous of you local guys. Mr. Brownsuit is a new one to me.....pretty funny. Luckily my Mr. Brownsuit today was only about 16" and did'nt cause too much havoc in the yak. Wednesday report coming soon.....

4/3/2007 - Stump Hole 7:00am Finally got up early enough to get on some top water action. Started in the flat throwing king-size chug bugs. Right off the bat my buddy missed a hook up by a big red. My chug got exploded on by a gator trout. The TW bite was on! Just a few minutes later I landed a red ...

Monday

Monday - Stump Hole 9:30am - Got another late start (too much red wine at dinner)...probably missed out on some good top water action. Started out by cruising the flats, chucking top water, Gulps, and stick baits......Nothing to be found. A few tenacious pin fish hooked up on my Spook....the Spook w...

Kayak fishing - St. Joe Bay

3/31/2007 - St. Joe Bay 5:30pm launched at the Stump Hole My buddy and I launched our brand new Tarpon 140's for their maiden voyage...we were stoked. Pretty slow out there, one trout (12") was caught on a Gulp under a CT in a 6' deep channel on the edge of the flats. One Red (18") was cau...

Best in-shore eatin' fish?

I've been fishing the flats for about 5 years now and have always been a catch and release guy. This year I'm thinking about keeping one or two fish and trying them out on the grill.
SO......what's the best in-shore eatin' fish? Specks good? Red? Spanish? Flounder? :lick:

Yes it's all in good fun...we're best buds. Busting balls has been a sport for us for the past 20 years. He really does suck at fishing though and is kinda girl-like in his behavior. It might be cause he only has one testicle, but I'm not sure. Last year he talked for months about how he was going t...

Seems like A. Mulvey has resorted to spreading lies to make up for the fact that he can't catch fish. (execpt for the shark story, that might have been true). But if you want to talk about a puzzy.....last year he droped a $75 Leatherman into 2 feet of clear water and was too much of a girl to get o...
