Re: question about navigating waters around St. Marks

I'd say there are some deep spots. The rest is one giant shallow spot. Without a depth finder I wouldn't push up much closer to shore than the old pylons outside of a fast idle until you're familiar. There are a couple of safe paths through here and there but lots of black muddy bottom which can mak...

Re: July NFGFC Tournament Roll Call

Just an address would do really. I did try and Google and bing it and all that but I got about 7 or 8 sites listing its full address as "Perry, FL" which ain't that helpful. I know how to get to Perry :P

Lost fishing pole on Woodville Hwy 3/6

On the way to weigh-in at today's tournament one of my fishing poles fell out of the boat on Woodville hwy. We stopped at the gas station across from Savannah's for munchies on the way back to Jerry's and it was still on the boat - I removed a soft bait from the hook while waiting for mojo to come o...

2009.09.25 St Marks short trip after work

Talking to the wife at the office around 4:00 and she says we should take the boat out after work. Ummm...OK! So I cut out right around 5, came home and changed clothes and picked up the wife and headed out to get the boat from JBT. We went to the lighthouse and didn't get the boat in the water unti...

Re: Bending Lexan...

DukesFin - I forgot to mention, there is really no such thing as a 90 degree angled bend with most of those synthetic super-plastics. Their molecular bond is sort of like crystalline made of elastic - you can stretch each bond a little bit without breaking / smashing it. Smashing the bonds is what c...

Re: Bending Lexan...

1/2" is pretty tough to get right. I'd think with a torch you're going to get excessively uneven heat on the top vs bottom vs inside of a 1/2 inch cut (kind of like cooking a thick steak on high heat). Lexan doesn't transfer heat well; that's why it takes so long to cool, so unless you got some...

Re: Bending Lexan...

Dukes, oddly enough I actually spent some time between high school and college as a professional bender (yes like the robot on Futurama). I worked almost exclusively with Lucite and Lexan. Tips - it's all about the exact right temperature, which we used to eyeball because from one batch to another o...

Re: boat registration

Just FYI - might want to call up any Florida office first and say you have 'a friend' in this situation yada yada yada. I purchased a canoe brand new about 5-6 years ago with no intention of ever registering it. Then I found out a couple years later I needed to register it to use even a trolling mot...
