Re: April 6 and 7th

My girlfriend and I went Saturday. Got to the Lighthouse ramp about 10:30 and had just enough water to get the boat out. Fished around the Long Bar and in the East River with no good bites. Headed over toward Wakulla Beach and started catching some short Reds and Trout. Ended the day with one Red at...

Re: This forum is dead

I took the boat out Sunday afternoon 3-31. Stayed near the Lighthouse on the long bar and up in the East River. Caught a few catfish and a ladyfish. Not a great day fishing, but it was a great day to be on the boat! Interesting that the icon next to this thread indicates that it is a hot topic, but ...

Re: St. Marks??

I went out on Saturday around Big Pass and then to Goose Creek. All we caught was one short red. Water temp was between 55 and 57.

Re: St. Marks??

I haven't been fishing since the Saturday after Thanksgiving so I don't know what the recent rains have done to the water. This Saturday looks like it will be a good day to try. High tide is at 12:21 and wind should be below 10mph

Re: Ruger Mini 14

I've always wanted a Mini 14 in stainless. There are many different opinions on the Mini 14 firing 5.56, but I believe it's ok to use 5.56 in the standard model. Unless the NRA Edition falls into the Target Model chamber size. https://www.rugerforum.net/threads/can-my-mini-14-shoot-a-556-round.135345/

Re: Hello, new here

Welcome! There are plenty of spots to fish with a 19' boat unless you want to target snapper or grouper. Check out Navionics and get an idea of where the hot spots are. It helps to learn the names of different features in the area. https://webapp.navionics.com/#boating@6 ... 0yDz%60aaO

I don't know where to find any old articles, but here's an interesting interview with him and Apalachee Inshore Charters a while back.

Re: Scalloping................................................

Has anyone ever tried scalloping around Cedar Key? I have pulled wild clams there but never looked for a scallop. It seems like there's plenty of shallow spots with grass.

Re: 1st Inshore Trip 2023

Sounds like my experience from last Saturday. We did manage 1 Trout that was barely over 15" but several sail cats, ladyfish and some weird looking "grunt" a few big fish that didn't get close to the boat and several small sharks. Glad it will be scallop season soon because the fishin...
