Re: POLE-EN QUESTION

I have used this push pole 'anchor' device. I did not use it where there was any significant current, only on flats where water movement was minimal. It did work: word of caution, the pole had a tendence to bind in the unit and had to be careful removing as the stress of the boat weight pull against...

Re: Fly fishing school_Bahamas fishing

The Holbox trip is mainly fishing from panga's. I have heard that some people elect to take the golf-cart around the island and do some wade-fishing on their own because the guide drops you back around 2:00. However, most people say that you will want to have a painkiller and a couple of beers afte...

Re: in-shore reels

I've been impressed with the Penn Slammer 360 spinning reel series. Not the 'smoothness' of the Stradic, but the durability and performance have been excellent. I'm fishing two of them, one with braid, one with mono. No complaints.

Re: Fly fishing school_Bahamas fishing

I don't know a bonefish guide I would recommend. I do know some people near the area you are renting. I'll make a few calls and see if I can get you some info. The Tarpon trip sounds awesome. I used to fly fish for Tarpon, a lotta work... I've fished tarpon all over; never in Holbox. Do they wade fi...

Fly fishing school_Bahamas fishing

I've been to an O'vs fly fishing school........they know how to do it. For those with the desire to go to the Bahamas and do some premier bone fishing, and get a little expert help along the way, take a look at the attached link. http://www.orvis.com/intro_newwindow.asp?subject=2403&adv=93006&am...

Re: Spring Cleaning

RD: the caulking(some, not all) appears to have mold growing 'into' the caulk. I've put bleach on the caulk areas and while it definitely helps with the surface, I can't seem to get the 'down deep' crud out. I've not had this problem before and I'm wondering if I have some defective caulking. Regard...

Spring Cleaning

I'll be doing the regular boat prep for the upcoming year and am interested in your opinion: I will be replacing some caulking around several hatches and other items. I am seeing mold growth in some of the existing caulking. Would 3M 4200 be a good choice for replacement? has anyone used 4200 and se...

Re: Onboard Chargers

I've been know to frequent the Holiday Inn Express myself......thanks for the input. If there is some info floating around about 'do's and don'ts' for onboard battery charging, I would love to get access. All being said: I love my onboard charging system and don't know how I got along without it. :t...

Re: Onboard Chargers

I had not heard that onboard chargers might damage outboard alternators(ouch). Wonder if putting a battery switch in the 'off' position would sufficiently isolate the outboard from the battery bank?
