Re: Aucilla is on fire!

I still maintain that they need to close (or severely limit) trout in our area from December through February every year. Way too many fish hauled home these 3 months. We all hear of folks catching multiple limits and hauling them back to the dock when the fish are basically stranded in the river ...

Re: Tripletail late July - Alligator Point

To be honest I don't fish there much in July/August. I'm more interested in shallow water redfish and the water is too hot for that right now. All of the TT pics and reports I see are from Apalach but you are welcome to cruise the outside and give us a report.

Re: Tripletail late July - Alligator Point

I have heard of TT caught in AP Harbor from time to time. I looked a couple of times and struck out.

To actually go TT fishing you need to trailer over to Apalachaica and fish the bay to the west. That's the main area they are caught. I fish Dog and SG Island all the time. Almost never see a TT ...

Great report....... I really enjoyed the pics. I think that sunrise was worth all the trouble.

On a side note, we should start a GoFundMe to buy you a bucket of soap and a brush. That deck is yuck. lol

Re: So following up on the Gag discussion

My buddy said the "Shore Based" data came from a handful of gags caught from the bridge in Tampa Bay. Once they applied the "Fairy Dust" that became 106,000 pounds caught from shore. Total BS.

Re: This ain’t good..

I spoke with my friend who attends these meetings. He said the Fed's are recalculating and reassessing their catch data as it is obviously flawed on the recreational side. The commercial side is within their catch quota and won't be affected.

So.....what that means to the 2024 season......to be ...

Re: 2015 Alweld 1448 with 25HP Evinrude Etec $6000obo

Man, that is set up nice!!!!

I thought long and hard recently about acquiring a river/lake/winter creeks boat. This is one that would have been exactly what I was looking for. Sadly, the realization that my shop was already full to the brim with boats and toys made me reconsider my plan. I just can ...

Re: Are the good times really over?..

My Dad started me fishing at St. Marks close to 60 years ago, and I've been fishing in this area ever since. Things have changed but not nearly as rapidly as in other parts of Florida.

We used to catch (and keep) lots of 12-14" trout back in the days of virtually no limits. You can still catch ...

Re: South Georgia

They are stupid expensive. $30 to $35k plus.

My son has a few come thru his shop. A couple of the plantation managers have them. The AC and power windows are cool but it's like my son said "they are basically just loud, slow, pickup trucks".

Now...the Polaris Razor Turbo's......they are fun. :D

Re: GPS

Look into a Lowrance Hook 9. It sounds like all you need and the 9" is wider and taller than the 7. I'm old and I can see the 9 fine. Less than $500 bucks.

Download your waypoints and routes onto an sd card, then upload them into the new machine. Get a 14 year old to help you. lol

Lanark Boat Ramp parking.

The latest news at the Lanark Boat Club can be summed up as "parking problems". The lot next door has been sold and blocked off, creating a bit of chaos at the ramp. Suffice to say the new loading/unloading pattern will be a challenge on a busy weekend. It's a pull-in and then do a full 360 to get ...

Re: New to Area looking for Boat Ramp Advice

Lanark is not the ramp for a 27' Grady. Too shallow, with no marked channel, and it's a private club you have to join. Go on down the road to Carrabelle. Several very nice launch at any tide ramps and a clearly marked deep channel. It's a short run back towards Lanark from there.
