First big red on fly, St. Joe

It finally came together on Sunday. I eased around with the trolling motor from 1 to 5 pm searching potholes and all I saw was one redfish, a sheepshead, a couple of lockjaw trout and about 500 catfish. Finally around 515 I spotted some fins sticking up in about 3 feet of water which were unusual, I...

Re: BBSC PSJ BAY 6-13 & 6-14

Good deal, I think I saw yall out there Friday after the storms cleared, a key west? I think yall were the only boat out there other than myself. I was in the boat that looks like a carolina skiff crossed with a catamaran and an aircraft carrier.

St. Joe Bay 6/13-6/14

Down for the last weekend in a row before the scallopers invade. Friday being a little choppier than I predicted I stayed in the head of the bay so I wouldn't get wet. Fished all day by myself and didn't do so well. Started with my fly rod on some shorelines. Saw two fish and casted to them; they wa...

St. Joe Bay 6/6-6/8

Fished the head of the bay Friday and Saturday. Couldn't buy a bite in the mornings during the incoming, trout or redfish. Managed one 21" red. Friday afternoon during the strong outgoing Kyle and I managed to get a redfish a piece on topwater. We also saw two redfish that were struggling to ge...

St. Joe Bay 5/30-6/1

Went down in hopes of good fishing/light winds and thats exactly what we found. Friday morning we started in the head of the bay trying to catch some redfish. Pat (FinsNGrins) boated a nice 25 1/2 incher right up near shore. We lost several others and saw several others smashing bait on top, but we ...

Re: PSJ Bay

Pig Island channel. Reds were thick on the edges two weeks ago. There were also guides fishing for trout there.

Bottoms Rd

You can launch small boats at Bottoms Rd. in Panacea, right? If not what is the nearest "ramp" to access the water northwest of Piney Island? Plan on taking out an old aluminum 14' skiff. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

St. Joe Bay 5/2-3

Went down this weekend anticipating good fishing, but was greeted by 20 kt winds Friday. Nobody was in a fishing mood but we eventually picked up two catfish and a small red. Saturday we planned on going to the tip for pompano, but the winds were blowing so we decided to not get soaked and stuck aro...
