Re: Panacea
The bridge will give up truly big black drum. That being said, looking at your catch.....it sounds like you use alot of shrimp/gulp. Nothing wrong with that.....but if you're tired of feeding catfish, pinfish, and sharks your money...... Pick up a topwater and a suspending jerkbait, and knock 90% of...

Re: Whats happened to trout fishing?
I have noticed less trout as well. However, I have noticed less grass in historically good areas as well. I'm convinced it's a combination of things- like most things are. I agree, there is almost no justification for a commercial harvest of seatrout in our area. I'm actually shocked to learn there ...

Re: St Marks Lighthouse Advice
I'm a little late to the party, but I'll offer an alternative to the already awesome advice given above. I can not remember the last time I went out to catch a red, and didn't catch one. And I have not used "live" bait in many years. The kayak is a red killing machine. Use it. Follow creek...

Re: Trying a new lure
I fish baitcaster almost exclusively. I see next to no reason to use a spinning reel instead. I carry a small/light spinning rig for DOA shrimp, and a dedicated spinning rig with braid for a popping cork....but they mostly just go along for the ride. The catch 2000 is awesome. You will love it. Sent...

Re: Where to fish
The upper East River is an excellent fishing spot, esp this time of year. It should be stacked with reds. It is also stacked with gators. Seriously, the most dense concentration of large gators I can think of in our area. Maybe otter lake in panacea has more.....But not much. Be careful and take a f...

Re: Hey everyone!
Thanks showboat! That's essentially what we did that day. There weren't many other options. Lol. The only water available was in/around hardbottom, oyster bars. The fish just were not there. It was strange. I thought we were going to really clean up! Oh well. It happens. Maybe this weekend, will be ...

Re: Hey everyone!
Good to see you Bman and gator, happy to be back. Sorry if took so long to report back. The trip was less than stellar. My buddy and I put the yaks in around daybreak at shell point Beach, into quite possibly the lowest tide I have ever seen there....And fished almost 6hrs without a bite between the...

The answer to the vegetation is a zoom horny toad and a 4/0 hook. Preferrebly with 15+ lb test or braid.
Nice fish! Thanks for the report!

Re: Bass Fishing from kayak
Agreed with all of the above. The lake off of South monroe is called Campbell's pond. There are very nice bass and crappie in it- I used to live on it. Leave before dark....that hood has gotten rough. Munson- last time I went...admittedly a few years ago....was looking great and healthy, with awesom...

^^^^ this .
I'll add that in my kayak, I have a fourth rod with cork/jighead combo with me.....but I rarely use it.
90% of the time I am throwing a spook Jr, or one knocker. Bone.
