Talquin Specks 9/30
The crappie have turned on a little bit since that last cool front. Caught a decent little mess yesterday in a couple of hours before dark. Was trolling acid rain and bubblegum jigs in the channel 10-12 ft. deep. Threw back 15 or so shorties, but made for some fun fishing. http://tapatalk.imageshack...

Mayfly Hatch Talquin Now
Just a heads up, tomorrow (Sunday) should be prime time on the east end of the lake around Coe Landing and the curtain. I was out there this evening and the hatch is just getting started. Bream we're going nuts under the few trees with lots of bugs. If you have time tomorrow, head out there and pick...

Talquin report July full moon
Fishing was slow for me last week but everything turned on last night. Bream and shell crackers are on the beds. Bass are schooling every evening on the shoulders of the river channel between the curtain and the mouth of the river. Got 20 cats last night. Started biting just before dark and stayed g...

Re: how to find bream beds in rivers
I usually search sloughs over here on the ocklocknee, looking for sandy or not very muddy bottom in 3-6 ft of water. Holes in lillypads, or opening between pads and structure are good. The slack water behind sand bars are good too.

Re: Talquin flatheads?
Yeah, I'm glad they haven't cleaned out our red belly population like they have some places....yet. I definitely plan to keep em if I find them.

Re: Talquin flatheads?
I'm curious how established they are in the lake. Only data I've seen was for the river below the dam, and it was way less than the appilachicola and some of the bigger rivers to the west. I tried em last night with live bream and didn't get a bite, but I also got skunked on my trot line which seldo...

Talquin flatheads?
I live on Talquin down on the east end near the curtain and catfish quite a bit. Was wondering if anybody has any experience with flatheads in the lake. I know below the dam is good but I caught one the other night on a trot line on liver so I'm thinking about spending a night or two targeting them.

So give us the low-down on how to go after em when the mayflies hatch.
Re: Ethanoled
In Tally the only place I know of is the little store that sells bait on Hwy 20 a couple miles outta town on the way to Talquin.

Re: A Few questions about Cape San Blas
I usually just roll through the campground and find someone with a boat or trailer parked at thier site. I've never had any problems getting the gate code as long as you explain that you are gonna be coming in early to launch. The code usually stays the same for a few weeks at a time.
