Re: Question about flounder Bite on Alligator Pt. Mud Flats
Stop at Crum's mini mall in Panacea, he'll have everything ya need "and at a good price" I don't fish for the flatties, but there are plenty of Reds and Trout off of Bald Point    I'm amazed at the prices at Crum's. They beat any price I have found online...

Re: Seein' that...
Nice meeting you out there yesterday! After you left, I hooked a tiger shark that went at least 8 feet long. It came up, saw I was in a kayak, laughed at me for a couple minutes, and then with a couple good pulls and headshakes broke my line and went on its way. Good to meet you too TT. Wow, did ya...

Seein' that...
Near-shore grouper season closes at the end of the month... Gas prices are dropping... Calm seas predicted... Hearing that yesterday could be our last day on earth... It was a no-brainer to head out there...somewhere... Launched at the lighthouse and headed SE to a favorite haunt of ours, and about ...

Re: Garmin Mapsource Routing and Google Earth
I don't plan my trips with Mapsource and Google Earth.
But it is how I now keep my journal.
I import my route from my Garmin to Mapsource to Google Earth where I have a record of all my trips with catches and conditions.

Sikes Cut 4-23
First trip of the year. Put in at the SGI bridge basin and ran to the cut. Few mullet, but pretty big menhaden and cut ladyfish for bait. 1 - 20" trout 8 spanish 2 - 26.5 in reds Two huge tarpon rolls right next to the boat. Good start to the year! http://zydecozoo.com/sikes-cut-red_3-24-11.jpg

Re: SGI Boat Ramps and Fishing
The ramp at the cut is about the most raggedy boat ramp you'll see.
Paved with limestone boulders. You have to look at a while before you realize it's a ramp.
Would need a 4wd and big trailer tires to pull that one off.

Re: Old Tackle
Here is an article about bone hooks found in the Aucilla. Some of you may know Jack Simpson. Jack has one of the oldest fish hooks in North America, if not THE oldest. What makes his find extremely unique is most of the ancient fish hooks taken out of the Aucilla are made from a deer toe bone, but ...

Old Tackle
Interesting article. Makes you wonder what they used to have in their tackle boxes around here 12,000 years ago. They have found the oldest example of human art in the world along the Aucilla (carved mastodon tusks), (insert joke here). I don't believe I've ever seen ancient tackle from around here ...

Re: Oysters- Harvesting them myself!
Here's a map of permitted areas.
Does not show leased areas, but it shows where you definitly can't harvest them.
