Custom Rod for sale! SOLD
This rod is brand new. Built for a customer who had the wrong size reel and wouldn’t fit. This rod has never been used and just came off the dryer this morning! This is a 7’2 medium heavy mod-Fast. This action is (in my opinion) one of the most versatile actions you can have on the flats and that’s ...

Re: Southern Customs Latest Builds
Very beautiful work. I was looking around the other day and came across a rod builder, Duce Rods ( https://ducerods.com ). They brag about how they spiral the guides on their casting rods around the blank and how it improves distance and feel. I am curious, as you would know better than I, do you t...

Southern Customs Latest Builds
it's been a while since I shared a few pictures but here are some recent builds I've done. I try to remember to take pictures of every build I do but sometimes I get side tracked and forget. new components hit the market weekly it seems so I try and build with the newest stuff that the customer allo...

7/6-7/7
I wish I had a good report, but I don't. 7/6 we headed down to dog island but never put the boat in the water due to the weather. we misjudged the weather by a long shot apparently. we came back and decided to try Sunday. woke up Sunday and figured we'll stay closer to home and opted for St. Marks. ...

Re: Capsized
FWC usually has a big 55’ boat sitting at the Moorings. I think they dock their 25’ boat there too. But you have to have officers there to drive them. They were probably an hour and a half away in Tallahassee. As for the Coast Guard, if the rescue boat confirmed they were headed to those coordinate...
Re: Capsized
it's crazy how fast weather can change out there. Glad this story didn't have a different ending. the article states that the CG didn't have a boat in the area big enough, could they not send a helicopter?

Re: Fishing Line
For all the braid users out there, how long do you keep your braid on your spool? Do you ever experience what I would consider a dry rot where your braid pops behind your leader? I felt like i had several break offs yesterday that didn't feel like cut offs from toothy critters. I've also heard of u...

St. Marks 5/16
My good Buddy called earlier in the week and asked if I wanted to take Thursday off and shoot down to the coast. This didn't require much thinking over so that morning I headed south. we had a few regular set backs so we didn't put out of the drive way until 9:00 so my buddy, his wife and his sassy ...
