Grouper or dove
Saturday I was faced with a little dilemma. Should I try to go catch some shallow water grouper or should I go dove hunting? After seeing the NOAA report on Friday calling for 1 foot sea’s I made up my mind. I’ll do both. Meet up with my dad at 6:30 and headed down to the Fort at ST. Marks. We got d...

CSB 11-7
The wife and I had a trip planed to head down to CSB for the weekend. The weather forecast didn’t look good but I decided to bring the boat along anyways. On Saturday NOAA was calling for 15 to 20 knot winds out of the east. Since the bay runs north/south my plan was to run over to the gulf side of ...

Re: Offshore AP 10/25
Thanks for the report! I was thinking about going off shore on Sun but decided to take my flats boat out instead. I feel a little better now with that decision knowing the grouper haven't come in yet. Maybe in a couple more weeks they will be in.

St. Marks 10-25
Got down to the St. Marks light house at 9:30 and headed east to the mouth of Stony Bayou. Picked up 7 keeper trout drifting along the channel. All on top water plugs. Then moved back to a hole at the entrance of one of the creeks. Picked up 3 more to conclude our trout limit. We caught these on New...

Re: Mashes Sands 10-11
First thing in the morning it was 2-3 foot but layed down to 1-2 by 11. I did notice the wind seemed to be stronger closer to shore.

Re: Deep Water Question
I go out of Mashes Sands most often mainly because I don't want to drive the extra 30 min to Carabelle. Buoy 26 is 9 miles from the landing and is in 35 feet. It drops to 50 feet within a 2 mile from there. The K tower which is 7 miles south of Buoy 26 is in 65 feet. It is a nice landing but watch o...

Mashes Sands 10-11
Took the wife out of Mashes Sands on Sunday to do a little fishing. First stop was the shoal out by buoy 26 to catch some pinfish for bait. The water was so dirty I could see the grass beds which made catching bait very difficult. I was only able to pick up 3 or 4 and before I got tired of wasting t...

Sounds like a good day but I have a question. I thought Red Snapper season was closed?

Re: Sep. 26 St Marks
Two and three weeks ago I dived 24 barge. The first trip 3 weeks ago I saw 2 short grouper a one jew fish. Two weeks ago I went to the same spot and saw 30 shorts along with a few keeper grouper. I even shot one that was pushing 30 inches. I assumed after last week’s dive the fishing would be good. ...

Sep. 26 St Marks
I haven't seen anyone post a report on offshore fishing in a while so I decided to even though it isn't good. Got to the fort at day break and headed out to the flats to catch pins. Loaded up with 3 dozen and hit the buoys on the way out. Caught 2 small cobia off one of them. Maybe 27/28 inches. Sto...

A little of everything
Saturday morning woke up early and decided to take the kayak down to Wakulla Beach. Arrived at the landing just before sun rise and paddled to the opposite shore since that seemed to be the most sheltered from the wind. The tide was dropping pretty good and the mullet were everywhere. Once I got up ...

Re: boat registration
It's easy. I had to do the same thing last year. Just go to the Tag place and say the boat has been on a farm pond for many years thus the reason it wasn't registered. They will give you a sheet of paper to fill out that needs to be notarized and then you are good to go.

The wife and I decided to bring the tanks along this past Sunday. Went out to the artificial reef by buoy 24 in 30 feet of water. I just wanted to see what was around. The vis was 10 feet but it was the beginning of the incoming tide. Not much down there. Saw a two small grouper, sheephead and one j...

St. Marks 8-22
On Friday I looked at the tides, low was at 10am and then noticed we were going to have a west, northwest wind. This is my ideal conditions for reds so I called up my dad and we decided to give it a shot. We got down to the lighthouse at 7am. It was a great morning. The temp was around 65 and hardly...
