The title of your post says "redfish". Then you mention "red grouper". Locally, redfish references "Red Drum". Red Grouper is a different specie and they mostly live in different areas and are targeted differently.
Which one, specifically, are you targeting?

Re: 2025 Rock The Dock - looking for a boat
You can try attending the North Florida Gulf Fishing Club meetings and introduce yourself. There are a lot of good folks there and you might meet someone looking for a fishing partner.

Is it OK to double team a big fish? Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.
Nice pics as always. I have to agree with you about the flawed science pertaining to our fish populations.

Solid reels!! They are fairly light weight and plenty of drag when jigging for reef dwellers. Nice retrieve speed also.

It still surprises me to hear of people catching Gag Grouper since NOAA biologists say the populations are way down.
I'm glad you were able to get out and enjoy the waters and catch some fish. Great pics as always.

Re: Wellness Check!
So far so good. Fortunately we were not heavily impacted. Prayers go out to all of those who were.
On a lighter note, I can't wait until I am able to get out to catch a fish. I hope my schedule and the weather cooperate soon.

Redfish Bite is Heating Up
Y'all need to get out to the flats and creek mouths. I went out with a friend on 9/15/24 and after plundering a few creeks while trying to get a little relief from the unexpected stiff breeze, we found a bunch of reds. We lost count after 34. Most of the fish were caught on spoons, and every one of ...

Re: Handheld VHF Radio Advice
Most hand held VHF radios only have 5-6 watts of transmitting power. Unfortunately this means you have an unobstructed range of 5-10 miles. Where you can receive Coast Guard or weather transmissions from hundreds of miles away, that does not mean they can hear you. In order to extend your ...

Re: Trophy-sized sailcats!
Another great day on the water!! While I too catch a few fish that are not my target species, it is great to get that pull on the line. I'm sorry that I don't have any TT strategies for you as I am not very good at targeting them. It's that old dog new tricks thing.
