Re: 3/25/23 Fishing Report
If it weren’t for the slime and spines, I’m guessing everyone would keep them for the table. I’ve heard very few folks say they didn’t like them fried.

Re: Tournament Question: Seeking Input
I get what y'all are saying, but if I were fishing for 2 days at the coast, I would very likely keep my two legal redfish and eat them. I love redfish to eat. I keep very little fish to freeze so only keep when I intend to eat it soon. Isn't that what most folks do?

Redfish live bait
Fiddlers this time of year work great. You’ll still need to weed thru a lot of trash. But, you’ll get a bonus every now and then.

Caught some good ones fishing in 3 ft over spotty bottom on Sunday. Solid grass or sand yielded little.

Re: Hickory Mound launch
Hickory mounds in the winter is just like everywhere else. Creeks fed by springs, warm water sources, or deeper holes will be productive. Suspending lures and swimming jigs should work with a long pause.

During negative tides limit yourself to launching in rivers and bays.

Re: What fish WON'T you eat?
I’ll eat any fish if its fixed by someone who knows how to prepare it. Way to many awesome ways to cook fish I’ve never tried.
Here’s a few I obviously don’t know how to prepare:
Carp
I like the taste of gar tenderloin, but after a trip to the dr with an infection I won’t do that again.

Re: Favorite Fish to Eat
So many ways to eat fish. How can anyone possibly have a favorite. I’m the only one left at my house that eats them, so trying something new every week is my goal.

The wisdom of boat ramp closures???
I fished this weekend, launching at a remote spot. Returned to find 2-3 times the normal crowd. They are absolutely making it worse and should be held accountable.

Re: How long until they close the boat ramps?
IMHO the closure of these remote ramps y the state, such as Econfina is really stupid. In fact, the closure of any ramps is stupid unless you can prove that they really are a hazard. If they are worried about folks gathering on sandbars, get out in a boat and police those sandbars. I pay the state ...
