Re: Thoughts on chartplotter/sonar

I don't have a clue on how to do that. I will struggle with learning how to use the new unit. So the simpler it is the better i like it.

Maybe it was the full moon. The fish may have been full from feeding at night?

Re: Thoughts on chartplotter/sonar

I hope John at BPS is correct on Navionics having a new chip for the Garmin units soon. He is a great help when i have questions on products. He even installed a Navionics card into a large Lorance unit in the store for me to see the difference & i like the Navionics look/info better. I received...

St Marks 3-17

A friend & I fished some yesterday morning after launching from the fort. I felt the tide needed time to start coming in, so we fished for some bass first. He picked up a couple & I landed 5 & missed two others. Most were kind of small but still fun. So after an 1 1/2 hours it was time f...

Re: Thoughts on chartplotter/sonar

They are not compatible. You can go to the Navionics web site & check there. They do have some of their data preinstalled in the units. John at BPS said he heard they plan on releasing a compatible version soon. I was there on Wednesday & he confirmed they won't work right now & the web ...

Re: Thoughts on chartplotter/sonar

Thanks for all the help & taking time to respond. I purchased the Garmin Echomap i mentioned above yesterday. One thing that surprised me about the Garmin units. Even with them owning Navionics, the Garmin units are not compatible with Navionics chips. If you want to update the mapping on a Garm...

Yellowflies

For the Yellow Flies I boat a lot & have a place on the St Marks. My wife swells up & hurts if a Yellow Fly bites her. I found out several years ago, by accident, that Austrian Gold sunscreen works GREAT for more than sun protection!!!! I use 30 or 50spf but I don't think that matters. I hav...

Re: Surprise Catch

Above Newport, but below the Rise. In the Old Magnolia Rd area. (This would be below the Natural Bridge & about a mile below the Boil) There are several Big Ones that stay in the area (Maybe 30 fish) They are usually not all together.

Surprise Catch

Managed to unhook this huge Carp at the boat. He hit my Rubber Worm like a train. It was an epic 10 minute fight. I tried to lift it out of the water with my digital scale, but the fish came off with only 1/2 it's body out of the water, & the read out at 28.9lbs. I bet it would go 35 + & was...
