Kayak trip-surprise visitor

Had a family trip to Mashes Sands and took along the kayak. Took my niece out on Sunday as she has been wanting to fish. She is 8, so I decided it would be best to paddle to a beach and get out and let her fish. We headed out at daybreak. Saw something tearing up the bait at the little point right a...

Re: St Marks social distancing

Oh yeah. My SIL set a new boat record with a 20 spot redfish. Beat his wife’s record! We have her a hard time - while she was at work.

St Marks social distancing

We distanced on the salt water today. Woke up in Quincy and rain and lightning all around at about 5:30. I have been off the last week and working on projects with my SIL on my house and his - we decided yesterday it was time for some fishing. About 6:00 it looked like it was going to clear, so we s...

Re: Fryers

Just saw this. Get the 4 gallon for sure. Clean up is so dang easy. Oil stays good for multiple cooks and you just drain it back into the jug with a filter. Could not be easier. When you want to cook for a lot of folks, you can run it in waves - fish and puppies or fries on either side. Folks can st...

Aucilla 6/17

Wow. Called for a low at 7:30, but the river was never really low at all. Had engine trouble and could not do more than idle, but we wanted to go anyway and went on out. Fished around, water was dark. Worked for the few we caught. One red on jig (21"), one on Cajun thunder by my great nephew. W...

Re: Franklin County Welcomes Anglers

I would never punish a local business for the decisions of the county "powers that be". If a business upsets me, I will never return, but this was not their fault. They had no control.

Skitterwalk 3.5" Bone
Johnson Sprite Gold
Jig with 5" shad - colors vary. I prefer the style with the eye on top of the jig - makes for a more dramatic fall and the tail points up as it does.

Re: Kayak trip

Thanks for the ideas. Since I am only toting one red, I know it is at risk of getting shark eaten, but I tied it with a quick release (like used to tie a horse to a post). I was real shallow so not real worried, but would like to get one on ice anyhow. It will never replace my flats boat, but is a g...

Re: Kayak trip

Thanks. I am still tweaking. I built a little tray under the seat the slides in and out to hold lures, pliers and plastic gripper. Ordered place to store paddle and stick it pin now. I made an anchor trolley before this trip and it is perfect. I can sit on the backrest and paddle which was nice to g...

Kayak trip

Been very busy at work and building a house so fishing has been non-existent for me. Had a trip with the family planned and decided to sneak in a kayak trip with a buddy. Tried a new spot and had a tough time until about 9:30. Then they turned on for about 45 minutes. Two reds, a ladyfish and 2 trou...
