Re: Triple Tail in the Bay
They can be shallower. We caught a pig that was anchored up on some driftwood that had caught the bottom. Maybe 3-4 feet. As we eased by I saw him and casted back to him. He slammed the bait.

Re: Get some reports started
Turkey season is over, so I will likely be fishing and will try to post up some (not so specific) reports.

Re: Aggravating Toms
For sure. Used it to perfection on a hunt with nephew. He gobbled on the limb, I eased up and walked away from him raising a ruckus and walked him right in to nephew. He stopped at the exact spot I made my first call. It is amazing how they can pinpoint the sound.

Re: Aggravating Toms
Those are all great points and I learned those lessons the hard way. Sometimes though, the bird dictates the set up-like they are encountered close with no time to reposition, or in that case where the terrain was wide open river bottom and they stayed there all day. Had to try something as they wer...

Re: Aggravating Toms
I have kinda had the opposite early. Lots of action and the birds would hang up just barely out of my comfort range. Like 45 yards. Every time there were hens involved and I have had hens literally inside 10 yards multiple times this year. One sat and stared at me - never alerted but knew that lump ...

Re: Aggravating Toms
That is why it is so fun. I have been pretty aggravated too at times, had two at just out of my comfort zone of shooting and messed up (again) by a poacher. Called one in earlier for my SIL to end his season and I called one in on Saturday. The two hens were 10 yards from me, but he followed too clo...

Turkey opener
Good luck tomorrow to anyone chasing turkey.
Took my great nephew last Sunday and put 7 birds in gun range (6 jakes and 1 gobbler). The gobbler and 2 of the jakes hammered at 30 yards. It was pretty crazy with that many eyes and he missed the bird. Bummer.

Download the FWC app and don't forget to sync it in case you have no cell service.
Re: quail
You can call Talon Outdoor range and ask if Charlie has any for sale. His are flight ready. Not sure how his supply is doing, he uses his on site as well for hunting. If he does not have any, he may know someone. Saw a sign while driving from Quincy to Ochlocknee GA a while back that had flight quai...

Re: Inshore live bait reel?
I use an older model Okuma baitfeeder spinning reel. I had problems with sudden backlashes using an old clicker Ambassador when something seriously big grabbed it. It has caught from smallish trout to a 6 foot bull shark. Worked well on all. Getting older now and may be time to replace.

I have heard them called casting spoons and the Kastmaster was the brand we used for spanish. Just flutters when you stop reeling and spanish attack

Re: Saturday trip
In one of the creek mouth. First time I looked. About 8:00 or so. I am sure it was just surface temp but still pretty cool.

Re: Saturday trip
St Marks - went east yeah, it was like 74 in the am when we got there at about 7:45. Surprised me. I actually jumped in later in the day on a bar to cool off and was surprised how cool the water was in about 3 feet. I tried topwater early in the am and had a lot of follows with that telltale redfish...
