Re: Is this a chocolate snapper?
A lot of party boat mates either don't know what kind of fish it is or just want to make the tourists believe they caught something special. They like to call Porgys - Silver snapper and Beeliners - Pink Snapper to name a few. I've never heard of a Chocolate snapper but I talked to to couple of guy...

Re: Circle Hooks On Jigheads
I’ve never been able to figure it out for sure, but I believe you nailed it. Under the letter of the law it is illegal, but people do it. As I understand it, there is a section of south Florida where it is legal because of the yellowtail fishery and lobbying. But in most of the state it’s technicall...

Re: Looking for a new house where I can park my boat
I was in a similar situation last year. We moved from a huge lot with a massive pole barn that would hold 2 22” boats. My problem was trying to find a big lot to park a boat in midtown. So while at the rental, I kept my boat at the marina. After a few month of no boat ramp foolishness ( boat ramps w...

Re: Andree Reefs
I’m far from an expert, but I’ve been fishing here for almost 20 years and have never heard of it.

Re: Fish bit someone at St marks sandbar
Are y’all catching the puffers on live bait? We’ve been fishing the refuge every weekend since March ( too windy to get offshore) and haven’t caught a single one. Plenty of reds and trout, but no trash fish.

Re: Econfina River Nav ?
If you launch at the park and don't know where the rocks are...don't take the short cut to the right! I'd still be sitting on top of those rocks if there hadn't been a very nice guy in a red Sea Pro that pulled me off... I'd rather run through a mine field than run that river. :-D The aucilla is wo...

Re: Fish bit someone at St marks sandbar
Seems possible, bite looks similar, but I’m not sure if they have bottom teeth. What I’m really surprised about is that there is a st marks sandbar Facebook page

Re: Where to scallop this summer
I’ve never seen any scallops or scallopers in the harbor. But when the salinity is right, Lanark can be a good spot. Been a few years since it was good though

Re: SPANISH MACKS
Specifically, what depth range do they prefer and what is the preferred bait to use? I caught this one on a popping cork and vudu shrimp, was that a fluke or will it work consistently? I ask because popping rigs are easier for kids. If I'm targeting Macks I usually go deeper, but that is because I ...

Re: Recommend a trolling combo
Agree with above. Use your light spinners. When we used to troll dog island reef. Gold or silver Johnson spoons ( w 30lb fluro) would be all I used. Those Christmas tree rigs are a bitch when you get 4 bluefish on one.

Re: Gag Grouper Trolling Setup
I use braid and 6’ fluro to the plug. Some like mono because of the stretch.
