Re: Budget Rod/reel options
Another couple of votes for the Pfleuger President combo. About all us Williams ever use. Reels corrode a little in salt, but they still crank good, and well under $100.

Good December morning
I'll add my thanks publicly to Gulf Coast for the shrimp giveaway last weekend, and they were still working today. Caught a nice assortment, utilizing 2 different methods in 2 different locations. Finished with 2 reds, 2 black drum, 4 trout, a bunch of shorts and a ton of ladyfish. Best fish were a ...

Re: Strangest catch.
Last Summer in Topsail NC. Looked away for a minute and lost a whole surf fishing rig to the Atlantic, long PCV rod holder and all. Actually thought a passerby took it, as it wasn't even cast into the water. Searched and searched and searched in the water with no luck, gave it up for lost, even thou...

Re: Another STAR Winner
Agree with Rocky on the kudos for you 100+ guys. I worked hard and tested my marriage for my 31, mostly trout (over 2 to 1), which were hard to come by in August.
It's a great tournament, fun for the whole family!

Re: Need Some Suggestions
I believe there's a pier at Mashes, unless the storm got it, if so Bald Point just across the bridge, includes a little swimming possibility when it gets hot. Real shallow at low tide, still wadable at high.
