Rough seas made me cancel the overnight snapper trip so we tried again on Sat. Morning. NOAA got it all wrong as far as the wind and waves were concerned for the last two days. We spend most of saturday battling 3-5's and screaming wind when the forecast was for 1-2's/moderate chop.

Ditto what Bman said...trolling a clarks spoon (4-6 kts) is almost a sure bet...look for harassed bait pods too and troll around them.

Re: Snapper Water
Let me clarify, lol.....trailering at all isn't an option, so I'll be leaving out of St. Marks. Was going to take the family on thier first overnight, does Wakulla OAR hold any red snapper, or do I need to be deeper?

Fathers Day Weekend
Had a blast fishing 5 miles off the east end of DI on Fathers Day Weekend This 24LB king was caught by Bryce Fewox. He placed in the youth King Category with this catch. Proud Poppa Brandon helps him hoist his catch! The king inhaled a free lined pin.

Snapper Water
Whats the closest best bet for snapper if heading out of St. Marks? Trailering out of C-belle isn't an option this weekend. Would like to keep it around 30 miles one way. Any ideas?

bag limits
Am considering going out for my first ever two day/ overnight trip. Since i'll be out on the water for more than 24 hours, does a "one daily bag limit" apply, or can I keep two limits. If the answer is yes, how do i prove to the officer that I've been out overnight?
Re: St. Marks
Thanks for the idea on google earth. I didn't even think about that.....and my charts and GPS are sitting on my boat in St Marks!
As far as boat size, its a pro line 251....250 engine

St. Marks
Considering taking the boat from St. Marks to Carrabelle. Any idea how long a trip this is by water @ 20 knots?
I was budgeting 3 hours.

Re: bait for cobia
Sounds funny, but the best baits I've ever found are 1) 4-7" catfish with the spines cut off and 2) a small "dollar" sized blue crab if you can find them.
Its hard to "target" cobia, unness you've got a tuna towers and drive around looking for them. Try pitching to every structure you come to ...

Re: Dog Island reef?
Also, when out at DI, remember the "white trash bash". Lots of drunken numbnuts on the water Memorial Day weekend in that area. Might be a good time to fish Ochlochnee Shoals instead!
