Re: Going outta Mashes Sands tomorrow
Didn't want to risk it so we bought pinfish from Franks Bait and tackle, but the grouper didn't want them at all. We finally switched to frozen ly's and got 2 keeper gags plus stripped a dozen times at least. Ran into some other guys at the marina who said they had better luck on frozen as well. The...

Re: Going outta Mashes Sands tomorrow
I'm going out from Carrabelle in he morning. Been several weeks and I had to use a vacation day to enjoy this weather and go get some grouper (I'm using the power of positive thinking).
Anyone know if pinfish are still prevalent in the grass flats around Dog Island?

A kid caught a 60 lb ling off the Navarre pier last weekend (near Pensacola)... Lots of other good reports from that area, not sure about our way
Re: SGI info
Try the blue parrot... A standard for the area... It's the only beach front restaurant. Bjs pizza and Subs is a good family place. There is an Oyster restaurant on one of the backroads that is pretty cool too.
There is good fishing from the old bridge which is now just a fishing pier.

Re: 2 Questions?
I've camped at the west end of dog island with no issues twice... Seen others at the east end multiple times... I think you'd have to be doing something pretty stupid to have any trouble. Stay off the dunes, keep your camp clean and you'll be fine. It's a great place!

I wipe some Pine Sol around the boat and it seems to keep the bugs away... I'll try the Bounce dryer sheets idea too... nothing ruins a good time on the water like bugs

Re: Do you drink on the water
Looks like a Bud Light sponsorship of this website wouldn't do me much good... I've always went by the assumption that "show me a man holding a fishing rod in one hand and I'll bet he's holding a beer in the other" I myself see nothing wrong with having a couple (2-4) beers throughout the ...

Re: sunglasses what do you prefer?
I have lost far too many sunglasses in my life to spend $120 on a pair. I am convinced that the sunglass companies could make sunglasses float vey easily if they wanted but choose not to do so for obvious reasons. Just my personal conspiracy theory : ) Never took the plunge on Costas but I have been...
