How thoughtful...you should send them a letter and thank them for expressing their concerns ![:smt098](./images/smilies/098.gif)

Re: lights
I'll have to try and remember but it was either Amazon or Ebay. I used to only use a light every so often to get my bearings or while running narrow trails, but when the lake went low a few years ago I ended up perched on fallen cypress in the middle of the lake one morning on the way to a spot (it ...
Re: lights
I agree...I run a 7" LED bar on the front of my duck boat that cost me $70 to my door. It's every bit as bright as the $250-$500 lights I've seen on friends' and other guys' boats. For the price I paid I was expecting it to be fairly cheap and flimsy compared to the more expensive brands, but i...

Re: Econfina 2/22
It's starting to feel like spring, I'm just ready for the fish to behave accordingly.

Econfina 2/22
With Saturday being my birthday, I decided to take the girlfriend and the Gheenoe down to the coast to catch some trout and reds. Couldn't have asked for a prettier day on the water, but the fishing itself was slow. We fished a few areas that I had done well in 2 weeks ago, but I think this erratic ...

Re: Pin Fish Traps
I don't recall ever having a problem with bait finding its way out of the trap (at least not in numbers), but once the bait is gone, your trapped pinfish will resort to cannibalism...and you'll end up with a trap full of sickly baitfish with red nubs for tails.

Re: First fishing kayak
Just my opinion...If you're buying a kayak for the purpose of fishing in a variety of environments, there are too many makes and models set up specifically for fishing that are far superior to the nucanoe. They "can do" a number of different things, but they're expensive and lack many of t...

Re: First fishing kayak
There are TONS of great options for fishing kayaks. If you're in this area for now, I suggest dropping by The Wilderness Way in Crawfordville. Those guys can let you sit in a variety of different size/style kayaks, and help you get a feel for what will best suit your needs. Even if you're wanting to...

Re: Targeting Spanish???
Spanish get competitive when they're in feed mode, and swivels are just big enough to get their attention. They'll slash at it as if it's a baitfish, and if they clip the mainline, they'll cut it.

Re: Targeting Spanish???
Trolling spoons (I prefer silver Clark spoons) is the easiest and most effective way to find them if there's not a lot of obvious surface activity. Sometimes Spanish will attack any size spoon with reckless abandon, other times you have to "match the hatch". I prefer 30-40lb mono leaders a...

Re: Red Grouper
Offshore may be your best bet for live bait, the sand perch especially. Tip your sabikis with pieces of torn up GULP or Fish Bites...stays on the hook much longer.

Re: Need boat buying advice
Whatever boat you decide to go with, I suggest buying used. Some guys will completely disagree for various reasons, but you will get A LOT more boat for your money. You can find some great deals on used boats, including Action Crafts, Hewes, Pathfinders, etc...all versatile, well built boats. Do the...

Re: Operation Racoon elimination
Those little suckers are smart...I've had them dig underneath my traps to get at food from the bottom, flip traps completely over and pull food through, you name it. Here's what I've done and it works like a charm: take a piece of bacon/honeybun/ziplock bag filled with canned cat food and use a piec...

Re: The little boat that could....or did
Those boats have always impressed me. Think I saw you at the ramp on Sunday heading out by yourself. My brother and I launched right after you in the camo gheenoe and green Z71. You were loaded down to the gills then too.
