Thank you BBG. Ross was a neighbor and friend at Econfina for 20+ years. He sold his boats and camper several years ago to pursue other interests, mainly photography. He was good at it. That's a great tribute to him and his passions.

Re: Cast net repair
I second reel bad. Mutt Gilliam and his family are great people and they build quality nets and stand behind them. You can drop at JR's and he'll repair and take it back up there for you to pick up.

Re: Smooth Puffers
I brought 2 home to clean from this past weekend. I dressed the first one successfully without piercing any entrails. The skin comes off easier than a catfish. The meat is beautiful. I filleted off both sides and they look like a large chicken tender. I have not eaten them yet and I may not. I just ...

Econfina 7/19-20
Arrived at camp Friday afternoon and was greeted by a big ol' thunderstorm. After it blew over we loaded the crab pots on the boat and went and dropped them in for a soak. Later Friday night I went out with a neighbor on his airboat and cast-netted 22 nice mullet in the creeks. It was a 0 tide and ...

Econfina 6-2-18
Had boat trouble Friday so was unable to fish. Never knew I had a tiny inline fuel filter that requires a baby midget to replace under the cowl of my Suzuki DF60. But alas, I do.
So a friend who was fishing Saturday generously offered me and my crew,(which consisted of 2 newbie anglers, father and ...

Re: Vacation this week
Not trying to hijack but I was about to start a similar thread so I thought I'd just piggy-back. I'll be fishing out of Econfina. I'm taking a friend and his 12 year old son. Neither have ever been saltwater fishing. I usually fish my normal spots according to conditions. Usually shallow. I'm not ...
