Shell Island is in really rough shape. They had water all the way to the roof in the store and the covered boat storage where they kept the guide boats is gone. They are going to be a while to reopen.Srbenda wrote:Thanks for the updates!
Shell Island phones are still out- I tried them again this morning.

Re: St. Marks report
Went today, the trout were hard to come by, The only keepers we caught were still around the bars in the river. Did get into some spanish and they were fun. Ended the day with 7 keeper trout and 2 spanish.
Re: Help!!!
Thanks for the help. Went to Miccosukee for a couple of hours. Didn't catch any crappie but caught a couple of massive bream and one smallish bass. I can now say I've caught a Florida bass. It was not very large. There were some big crappie in good numbers being caught but they all seemed to come ...

Re: St. Marks
Really low tide today. As was mentioned before the sea fog was nuts. East river was the only place we found fish today. Not a crazy bite but it was pretty steady once we found them.

Water is too cold for most of the fish on the flats. Try up the rivers and creeks.

Re: Commercial vs. Recreational Fisheries
FWC personnel are at the docks that I leave from doing surveys almost every day. They get length and weight of every fish that the fleet brings in along with information from the anglers who caught them. This is just one marina. You cant tell me that they dont have information on the recreational ...

Buoy 24 is a good depth and good starting point. You can find it on a chart.bbb wrote:How many miles from the lighthouse to get in good 20-30ft grouper waters?
I've been going out of Mexico Beach and Lanark to stay around 6-10 miles.

There have been several snook catches in Aucilla recently and at 1 catch in East River at St Marks. I sure hope they can get up the spring fed rivers and stay for good.

Re: New Regulations on limits
I think trying a lower limit and increase the minimum. 4 trout is plenty for a meal. Heck 2 trout is plenty for me just like 1 red is.
Close 2 months, Jan and Feb. When they are stacked up in the rivers don't allow the harvest, or reduce it to 2, something.....
4 or two maybe enough for you, but ...

Trout are still scattered and not really biting around St. Marks. An all day trip on Saturday only produced 5 keepers. On the other hand, the reds have been pretty hungry.

I second Delecroix. Capt. Jack and the whole crew at sweetwater will point you in the right direction and also have guides and housing available. I've been using his ramp since the day he opened and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else.
