Re: FRI. MORNIN 7/21/17

Pa If these are leg cramps, I get them because of dehydration. This can happen easily during extended warm weather outdoor activities. I find that near constant sipping of water is the key, and no alcohol. You have to drink more water than seems natural and keep it up. If you are not peeing every co...

Re: Hear about the new cobia size?

My philosophy is always to err on the side of the resource. I have personally testified a couple times before the FWC that cobia should be game fish only (No sale). But that fell on deaf ears. That said, I fully realize politics is involved in the process (as with virtually anything in life). The i...

Re: Hear about the new cobia size?

• Increasing the minimum size limit in Gulf state waters from 33 to 38 inches fork length . • Making the recreational and commercial bag limits in Gulf state waters the same by reducing the commercial trip limit from two to one fish per person . • Reducing the recreational and commercial vessel lim...

Lots of rain. Means green lawns but few scallops at St Marks. Maybe St Joe Bay will still hold them.

Re: Must have fishing accessories

Get one of the gray colored tackle boxes that keeps stuff inside from rusting. Like magic. Besides usual tools, buy a compact set of bolt cutters that will fit into the box. When you jam a hook into yourself or friend and have to cut a hook off you will need one. Or, you will be sitting in the ER wi...

No, it doesn't show in the image. Don't want to get into that, anyway. Now that I've posted, I'm done with it.

But thanks.

Angler Ethics?

Lately, given circumstances and increasing age, I have worked on enjoying my time on the water and avoiding annoyances. Or, at a minimum, not going off on things like I could do in the past so easily. However, my experience Saturday tested my boundaries. A gracious friend had given my wife and I a w...

Re: Idenify Gude

Turkey point shoal I bet I could pull up in there around sunrise and get some Tarpon fishing advice from those guys :-D Bring some ear plugs. Motor up to the fly fishing guide boat and ask them loudly if they caught anything. Adjust the throttle to plow the boat and throw a big wake but not too fas...

Re: Idenify Gude

I'm visiting here in Port Richey because of a family death and our area and coast seems like paradise comparatively. Even Lanark on a bad day isn't like this crowded strip mall mess. Waiting to go home and get back on the water. New 10' Power Pole blade needs a test. EJ Sent from my iPad using Tapat...

Re: Idenify Gude

Don't know the guide and don't use the ramp any more, but agree that Lanark can be a zoo. If possible, it would be great if the Lanark Boat Club folks would have a "traffic cop" for the ramp like they used to do on weekends. That guy did a great job, and it's necessary. As far as the Tarpo...

Re: MARINE CB RADIO

What is the relative range on the handhelds? I know they are line of sight (all VHF mostly are), but was curious what the range is on those. Would they be good at Aucilla, Econfina, etc to talk to Coast Guard? Ship to ship with a handheld is only a few miles. Ship to coast guard antenna would be fa...

Re: Power Poles

A little late to help with the decision. I am the OP and I just got back from 10 days on the coast. I do have the 10 and I can say I was able to do a bunch of things with it that I couldn't do otherwise. It was a great asset in positioning us to fish places we had only drifted by before. I used it ...

Re: Fire Extinguishers and Flares

Flares are still usually functional after they expire. If you want an extra layer of safety, put them in a zip lock bag and label them as expired with a magic marker. Keep them separate from the current flares so LE doesn't cite you. If you'd rather just dispose of them and the extinguisher, you ca...
