Re: What's up with fishing around the 98 Bridge in St. Marks
Thanks to everyone who put up with, and even answered, all of my newbie questions. Everything made a lot more sense when I saw it with my own two eyes, rather than trying to plan stuff out from the internet.. go figure!!

Re: What's up with fishing around the 98 Bridge in St. Marks
Okay, guys! Thanks for all the good info. I showed my friend this thread and convinced him that we should put in at the 98 Bridge and paddle around (maybe north a little bit, or just in the general area). Maybe try to catch some sheepshead or just bass for fun. If that leaves us unsatisfied, he is ...

Re: What's up with fishing around the 98 Bridge in St. Marks
Between these replies and the inevitably insane Memorial Day boat traffic, y'all have not given me much to get excited about!!! haha. I'll do my best to make do, and let you know how it turns out. Hopefully it turns out to be a great day, nonetheless!

Re: What's up with fishing around the 98 Bridge in St. Marks
These are all spots that I fully intend to fish in the coming weeks, but it looks like tomorrow I'll have to be a good sport and go along with putting in at San Marcos park.

Re: What's up with fishing around the 98 Bridge in St. Marks
I agree with all of you. The whole reason my friend wants to put in at San Marcos de Apalache is because one of the girls we are going with has "Lyme Disease" and hasto stay out of the shade. My good friend, and fishing buddy, is trying to accommodate her and thinks that this launch site will ...

Re: What's up with fishing around the 98 Bridge in St. Marks
Actually, ***CORRECTION*** My friend just informed me that we are putting our canoes/kayak in at San Marcos De Apalache Park. Obviously this is further down the river. Are the trouts and reds even further south than this point? How far down river do we need to get to the flats where good fish can be ...

Re: What's up with fishing around the 98 Bridge in St. Marks
Oh man, that is disappointing to hear. I guess I should have known they would travel farther down river. At what point on the river are the saltwater species hanging out? Or do you pretty much have to make it to the bay for that?

What's up with fishing around the 98 Bridge in St. Marks?
I'm launching by the 98 bridge this weekend with a group of friends, canoes, and my new fishing kayak. To paddle around, FISH, drink beer / grill out , etc.

Re: Fishng around St Marks light house
Man, I was warned about the large and aggressive gators, but not the snakes. However, being from the Midwest, I look out for snakes everywhere in the wilderness down here. That's one thing I stay very wary of, as it's something we don't have to worry about in Wisconsin.

Re: Student on a Budget Looking to buy used fishing Yak
Update: Last night I checked out a used Pelican Castaway, 5 years old. It was mighty scratched up, especially on the bottom. Some of the bottom scratches appeared to be nearly 1" deep. My main concerns: the price wasn't right for a 5 year old scratched up 'yak that retails at the local Sports ...

Fishng around St Marks light house
A few weeks ago my girl and I tried fishing off an oyster jetty at St Marks, just a little west of the light house (It didn't last long considering I brought the wrong shoes and it was my first time fishing off an oyster be (OUCH!)...

Pelican Castaway owners:
Do you guys think $225 for 5 year old Pelican Castaway 11.5', in good shape but with minor scratches, with an upgraded paddle is a reasonable price for this kayak? Thanks..
